Planned as the second volume of the recently published “When The Punks Go Marching In” scrapbook, “Bands A-Z” contains biographies and detailed discographies of approximately 150 UK hardcore bands from the late 70s and early 80s, both obscure and famous. Some of the best-known bands from the scrapbooks, while others were largely unknown at the time and are only glimpsed here for the first time. There is also a section detailing punk hardcore labels and compilation albums from the UK’s active years, with several additions to the existing scrapbook archive. The initial book was packed with press from famous UK82 bands, but there were punks in the UK in the early 80s playing hardcore punk on the fringes of Oi/SKINHEAD CREW and Crass/ANARCHO CAMP. But there were also a myriad of overlooked, obscure bands and memorabilia symbols surrounding punk, from iconic acts like GBH, Exploited, Discharge, and Vice Squad, to unknown bands playing in pubs and community centers.
