“BLACK ROOTS” is a model with further improved durability by adopting the toe cap based on POSSESSED SHOE first model “BONELESS ONE”. The greatest feature of this model is the mid-cut, which is exquisitely high to protect the ankle without putting pressure on the ankle. The position of the laces is set closer to the ankle, so the part from the ankle to the instep can be fixed with shoelaces. The upper is designed in the shape of a deck shoe with an integrated toe portion, so that the fingers are not compressed in the shoe and stress is not felt below the ankle. For those who like a sense of freedom, this is a pair you should definitely try. The ollie pad portion has a double-layer suede construction.

CONCEPT
A shoe brand with a simple design that is durable and functional enough to withstand serious skateboarding.

DOUBLE LAYER OLLIE PAD & TOE CAP
The side part of the shoe that is easy to be cut by OLLIE has a two-layer structure. The OLLIE PAD part adopts suede material for the first and second layers. Rubber cap is attached to the toe.

OUTSOLE and INSOLE
The outsole uses a rubber sole (black sole). By adopting a waffle pattern, the grip and flexibility is enhanced. The insole uses a high-density urethane foam material with high shock absorption. The heel portion from the toe to the foot has a honeycomb structure for enhanced durability and wicking properties. The toe portion is 5 mm thick and the heel portion is 10 mm thick for improved shock absorption and control.

In the late 1980s, the brand director encountered skateboarding as an extension of the hardcore punk he was listening to at the time.
Obsessed with skateboarding, he formed the hardcore punk band THE SCUMBAG at the end of the 1980s and the band was active for two years. In the mid 90’s, he started making skateboarding videos as a part of OPIOID VIDEO series with the riders of T-19, a skateboard brand in Tokyo, and by 2001, he had made 5 videos. By 2001, he had produced 5 videos. In the late 90’s, he launched the skate apparel brand RGOA with ESOW, and in 2000, he launched TRANSMIT, a domestic skate shoe brand developed in collaboration with PRO-KEDS. By 2001, TRANSMIT had released skate shoes including pro-signature series by ESOW, ZIZOW, and KIKS, but TRANSMIT was closed in 2002, and RGOA was closed in 2007. After that, he experienced full-scale industrial production of apparel and other products.
He launched POSSESSED in 2016, utilizing his experience designing shoes at TRANSMIT. He still rides skateboards and always tests products himself. Currently, he writes a column “Skateboarding: A New Learning from the Past” for VHS MAG, a skateboarding web media. https://www.possessedshoe.com
