Johnny Thunders
In 1971, he formed the New York Dolls and played lead guitar. In 1972, he attracted attention for his intense live shows and neutral fashion, and was praised by Lou Reed and David Bowie.
Their debut album, “New York Dolls,” was released in 1973. Produced by Todd Rundgren. The manager of the latter New York Dolls was Malcolm McLaren, who later debuted the Sex Pistols.
McLaren, who was preparing to form the Pistols, invited them to come to London, but they refused.
He later formed Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers (The Heartbreakers) with Richard Hell (bass) and Walter Lew (guitar), formerly of Televisions, and released their only original album, “L.A.M.F.” (Like A Mother Fucker), in 1977. L.A.M.F. (Like A Mother Fucker) was released in 1977. They also toured with the Sex Pistols.
After the Heartbreakers broke up, Johnny stayed in London and released his solo debut album “So Alone” in 1978.
